SANDOR SZABADOS shares with us his views on the ‘Midwayer’ theory of crop circles, sub-angelic celestial beings...


"The ...secondary midwayers are engaged in important missions on earth. As compared with their primary associates, they are decidedly material. They exist just outside the range of mortal vision and possess sufficient latitude of adaptation to make, at will, physical contact with what humans call ‘material things.’ These unique creatures have certain definite powers over the things of time and space, not excepting the beasts of the realm."

The above is on page 865 of “The Urantia Book”, a 2,097-page tome comprised of 196 papers written by various celestial personalities - Divine Counselor, Perfector of Wisdom, Archangel, Life Carrier, Melchidezek, to name a few - in the 1920s and early 30s and published in book form in 1955. Urantia is the name of our planet and its history is narrated in Part III. Part IV narrates the life and teachings of Jesus, Part I provides information about God, the central universe and the superuniverse, and in Part II we are told about Christ Michael and his local universe to which our planet belongs. I have been studying the Urantia Papers since 1978 and crop circles for over twenty years and everything points to the 'secondary midwayers' as being the makers of the formations. As the following shows, they have motives, means, and opportunities.

"Many of the more literal phenomena ascribed to angels have been performed by the secondary midway creatures. When the early teachers of the gospel of Jesus were thrown into prison by the ignorant religious leaders of that day, an actual ‘angel of the Lord’ ‘by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth.’ But in the case of Peter's deliverance after the killing of James by Herod's order, it was a secondary midwayer who performed the work ascribed to an angel." (p. 865)

"As they made ready to remove the body of Jesus from the tomb preparatory to according it the dignified and reverent disposal of near-instantaneous dissolution, it was assigned the secondary Urantia midwayers to roll away the stones from the entrance of the tomb. The larger of these two stones was a huge circular affair, much like a millstone, and it moved in a groove chiseled out of the rock, so that it could be rolled back and forth to open or close the tomb. When the watching Jewish guards and the Roman soldiers, in the dim light of the morning, saw this huge stone begin to roll away from the entrance of the tomb, apparently of its own accord - without any visible means to account for such motion - they were seized with fear and panic, and they fled in haste from the scene." "Unlike the various orders of celestial beings who are assigned to minister on a planet, the midwayers live on an inhabited world. The seraphim come and go, but the midway creatures remain and will remain, albeit they are nonetheless ministers for being natives of the planet, and they provide the one continuing regime which harmonizes and connects the changing administrations of the seraphic hosts. As actual citizens of Urantia, the midwayers have a kinship interest in the destiny of this sphere. They are a determined association, persistently working for the progress of their native planet."
