Yes, it is 10 years to the week (17th December 1991) that seven people first gathered in the upper room of The Scout Centre at Burgess Hill in West Sussex, England, to form the Centre for Crop Circle Studies Sussex Branch, which would eventually be renamed Southern Circular Research (SCR). Little did we know then that our numbers would grow rapidly and that we would go on to create the journal ‘SC’ and then transform that into the website you are reading now (see our ‘About Us’ button for a little history of who we are). Within a few short months, we have become one of the top crop circle websites, regularly accessed by thousands around the world.
So thank you, all concerned, for your support over the years and in more recent months! Much appreciated. In turn, we intend to go on providing people with top notch circle info through Swirled News…

Each month, SCR gathers to hear the latest crop circle news and views with slides, videos and guest speakers in a friendly atmosphere. Meetings are fun and follow Swirled News’s lively and sometimes outspoken style. Afterwards, we move to ‘The Potter’s’ pub for drinks and chat.
Summer meetings between June and September are entertaining updates of all the latest crop circle events with slides, videos and animated discussion! Spring and autumn dates are a mix of the latest news and a special guest speaker.
See details below for directions to our venue. Burgess Hill is easy to get to by road or rail, and is only 40 minutes train journey from London Victoria or London Bridge and our venue is a simple five minute walk from the station. Worth the occasional trip, even for you non-Sussex people…

Everyone’s favourite (well, nearly everyone!) Swirled News crop circle columnist returns to base camp to outline his latest thoughts and geometric discoveries for an evening of ‘delusional cultist’ rantings for your fascination and entertainment!

SPEAKER: GEOFF STRAY
In a talk entitled ‘What does Santa Claus know about the Mayan calendar?’ (!), SCR’s own Geoff Stray will show how the 26,000-year precession of the equinoxes cycle has been encoded into architecture, iconography, and mythology. Russian scientific discoveries, Siberian shamanism and crop formations combine to shed some light on to the indigenous prophecies from North and South America about an imminent dimensional shift, and from these Geoff will give us an idea what to expect…

SPEAKER: LAURENCE LUCAS
Studier of Mayan astrology and purveyor of the ‘new mysticism’, Laurence will be relaying his experiences with crop circles, prediction and meditation, and describing how they fit into the paradigm shift the world is undergoing as we speak…

The UK editor of ‘Nexus Magazine’ and a familiar name in the crop circle world and beyond will be looking at the links between ancient Egypt, hidden ancient technology and crop circles, in his own inimitable style…

Meetings begin in the UPSTAIRS room at 8.00pm sharp, ending around 10.00pm.
Normal admission: £3.00
Guest speaker evenings: £4.00
ROAD DIRECTIONS:
Burgess Hill can be most easily reached by taking the A2300 from the A23 heading south from London, or by taking the A273 turn-off from the A23 shortly after leaving Brighton when heading north.
The entrance to Station Road can be approached from three ways:
1) First left at the traffic lights after the turning to Queen Elizabeth Avenue when heading south on the A273 London Road.
Or
2) Second right at the traffic lights (with an Indian restaurant on the corner) after the big roundabout crossed shortly after entering Burgess Hill heading north on the A273.
Or
3) Opposite Waitrose car park from Civic Way (near MacDonald’s).
The Scout Centre driveway entrance is just opposite ‘The Potter’s’ pub and the Centre has its own car park. If full, there is easy parking in Station Road.
RAIL DIRECTIONS:
There are regular services to Burgess Hill from London Victoria or London Bridge, or from Brighton or Worthing.
The Scout Centre is only five minutes walk from Burgess Hill railway station. Turn left as you leave the station and keep walking until you see the entrance to Station Road opposite Waitrose from Civic Way. Once in Station Road, ‘The Potter’s’ will be on your left after about two minutes, with the Scout Centre driveway opposite. Walk up the drive, into the building, and up the staircase on the right. Simple!
