ILYES doesn’t care for our opening quote…
"Crop circles are made by people, straight and simple, and anyone who tells you otherwise is either misguided, a fool or a charlatan" - Dr David Whitehouse, BBC News Online
Knowing you guys, I understand that this pull-quote does NOT represent yr views on the Phenomenon... but having it up there, at the very top of yr terrific website, irritates me GREATLY every time I pull SN up to catch up on the latest. We web surfers have been acclimated to the reality that the quotes which open a site SET THE TONE, SET THE EXPECTATIONS, of that site, of what's to come. Please, please, would you at least consider putting the OTHER one up there, the one about Fear, and dropping this one entirely? Clearly, it's Mr Whitehouse who is either misguided, a fool, or a charlatan, and as any/all of the three he darkens the Light you're attempting to offer The Curious and The Involved.
PS: Here's a quote you might replace the subject one with:
"The more I learn of physics, the more I am drawn to metaphysics." Albert Einstein
Or perhaps THIS one:
"(Since everything in nature answers to a moral power) if any phenomenon remains brute and dark, it is that the corresponding faculty in the observer is not yet active." Ralph Waldo Emerson - 'The Poet'
A final offering for yr consideration: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Albert Einstein
ILYES, USA
[But take your eyes just to the right of the quote in question, and you get the bold words ‘we beg to differ’, beneath a symbolic shielded knight… Most people seem to like the irony of our opening quote because it reminds us of what we’re up against. And, of course, it might always lure some hardened sceptics in to look at Swirled News, if they think we’re being serious… - Ed]
